Pipe Reticulation System- A Revolutionary Anti-Termite Treatment

The Pipe Reticulation System is a revolutionary termite treatment method designed to effectively treat the area before the construction of a concrete slab or floor. An underground reticulation system is a network of specially designed pipes (rubberised membranes). That propels anti-termite chemicals evenly throughout the building’s foundation.

This termite treatment system helps protect against future termite invasions that would otherwise enter your home from outside or through the floor. It is extremely durable and gives extreme protection to a new building, and simultaneously works as a highly effective termite shield for years.

Working principle and installation of the reticulation system

  • The lattice system involves laying of special flexible, continuously perforated 16 mm diameter pipe. Along the inner perimeter of the building and the centre of the floor, using a grid design (every 5 ft.).
  • A perforated pipe (made of rubberised membrane) is fitted along the floor. Before pouring the sand bed/subgrade or before fixing the floor marble/tiles.
  • A perforated pipe has built-in emitters that allow for the even distribution of termites down the entire floor.
  • The emitters deliver chemicals at a pre-calculated rate and reduce the risk of any areas going untreated.
  • The use of continuously perforated porous pipe ensures that no debris, soil, or concrete will block the pipe and make it ineffective.
  • The open ends of the pipe network connect to multiple junction boxes (refilling points) that allow periodic recharging of termite chemicals.
  • These junction boxes are usually installed on exterior walls in a concealed manner or designed to blend with the building’s aesthetics.
  • Refilling points are placed along the outer wall, enabling technicians to recharge the system from outside without disturbing the building’s interior or creating entry points for termites.
  • Piping Termite Control chemical emulsions are propelled through these junction points (refilling points) at low pressure.
  • The low pressure ensures uniform distribution of the termite emulsion. At all distribution points and finally throughout the network of porous pipes.
  • This system creates a continuous chemical barrier under the floor and prevents termite invasion through the soil, and denies access to the building structure.

Recharging of porous piping systems

  • The system must be recharged at 2.25 litres. per square meter. of horizontal surface area.
  • This should be repeated every 3-4 years to provide continued protection from termite entry into your home.
  • However, regular termite inspections are recommended in a termite management system.
  • The system is robustly designed to achieve a minimum service life of over 35 years.

Benefits of Termite Reticulate Treatment

  • Injecting termite chemicals does not require digging or drilling holes in the floor.
  • The hard work of removing furniture in the area is not required.
  • There is no pungent smell of termite chemicals on the premises.
  • No exposure to pesticides to the occupants of the building.
  • Piping system installation is guaranteed for 20 years with refilling every third year.
  • The chemical is also distributed under the floor, unlike the traditional termite injection method.
  • No stains or marks on expensive floors.
  • The cost-benefit ratio is significantly higher in the long run than conventional methods of termite. Treatment because the recharge cost is much lower than that of a drill and fill method.
